On May 14th -18th 2018, together with a Chinese delegation led by Mr. Xu Wenlong (Vice President of China Association of Urban Environment Sanitation) the IWM NAMA project visited IFAT – one of the world leading trade fairs for water, sewage, waste, and raw materials management and environmental technologies.Two important meetings became highlights of the visit. Firstly, the Chinese delegation met with Mr. Qian Mingyu, Mr. Frommann from GIZ and Prof. Dr. Nelles from the environmental sciences faculty of Rostock University at the booth of the German Federation of Waste, Water and Raw Materials Management Industry’s (BDE). This encounter evolved into a fruitful in-depth discussion about the strengthened Sino-German cooperation on waste management practices and innovative technologies in the field. Then, the Chinese delegation had a chance of a professional exchange with the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMU) and the German RETech Partnership – a knowledge-sharing network consisting of leading German enterprises and institutions in the waste management sector.

Both meetings emphasized the commitment of German and Chinese partners to strengthen their cooperation in the waste sector in order to share experiences and know-how on innovative technologies and practices. The mutual interest in joined action was considered to be crucial for China IWM NAMA, serving as another assurance of the project success.
